The Human Resource Department coordinates implementation of services, policies and programs. This effort helps to align the workforce with the Goals and Mission Statement of the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office. The Human Resource Department emphasizes quality, productivity, standards, goal attainment and recruitment along with the ongoing development of a high caliber workforce.

The Human Resource Department’s objectives are established to support the attainment of the Mission Statement and Objectives of the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.

Human Resources receives and processes employment applications for all divisions of the Sheriff’s Office. We continue to accept applications for Full-time; Part-time; and Reserve Status positions. Applications are active from one year from the date of the application. Once a vacancy occurs, applications are reviewed and screened and selected applicants will received notification from Human Resources to begin the interview process.

Q. How do I apply for a job with the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office?
A.  Complete one of the applications above, and submit to [email protected]. If you would like to turn in your application in person, you may do so at 77151 Citizens Circle. 

Q. What are the work hours / shifts for Law Enforcement and Corrections Officers?
A.  Law Enforcement and Correctional Officers at the NCSO work 12 hour shifts (usually 5:30 am to 5:30 pm and 5:30 pm to 5:30 am).  The shifts rotate days on and off in the following manner: 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off etc.. The Officers work a minimum of 84 hours every two weeks.

Q. What are the work hours / shifts for 911 Communications (Dispatchers & Call Takers) Officers?
A.  911 Communications Officers at the NCSO work 12 hour shifts (usually 5:30 am to 5:30 pm and 5:30 pm to 5:30 am with unpaid breaks).  The shifts rotate days on and off in the following manner: 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off etc.. The Officers work a minimum of 80 hours every two weeks.

Q. How often are employees paid?
A.  Employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis with 26 payrolls per year.

Q. What type of insurance benefits are offered to employees?
A.  Full Time Employees have the ability to purchase group rate comprehensive Health, Dental, Vision, Life and Long Term Disability.  Insurance is effective between 60-90 days after the hire date.

Q. Do the Employees participate in a retirement plan?
A. Yes.  The Employees are enrolled in the Florida Retirement System (F.R.S.). F.R.S. is a state retirement with two plan options, pension and investment.  Employees select which plan they wish to participate in and there is a mandatory contribution that each employee must make into their plan.
